Natural Cholesterol Fighting Supplements

At Last, 8 Natural Cholesterol Fighting Supplements

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance found in all cells in our body, and the most common cause of high cholesterol is an unhealthy lifestyle. However, there are eight (8) foods that you should take if you want to naturally lower your cholesterol levels.

Saturated fats, a type of bad fat, are found in meat, fish, eggs, butter, cheese, fried, fatty and processed foods. These foods cause low-density lipoprotein, LDL (bad fat), to raise cholesterol. Smoking lowers HDL (good fat), especially in women, writes klix.ba

Cholesterol is an invisible threat, according to experts. UCT dietitian and clinical educator Nasreen Jaffer explains why it’s not always obvious that you have a problem.

“There are not many visible signs that you have high cholesterol. One common sign, for example, includes fatty deposits that appear near the eyes. It often happens that only if patients have their first chest pain or heart attack how they find out that they have a problem, ”she says.

Because of this, she recommends that everyone takes a blood test at least once a year to determine their blood cholesterol levels and try to include these foods in their daily diet.

Tomato

Add tomato sauce to your pasta if you want to keep your cholesterol under control. Tomatoes are a significant source of an herbal compound called lycopene, which lowers LDL cholesterol levels.

Green and black tea

Green and black tea can help lower cholesterol levels. Green tea is made from unfermented leaves, and black tea is made from fully fermented leaves of the same plant. Researchers believe that catechins, a type of antioxidant found in tea, are responsible for this action.

Almonds

Daily consumption of almonds has been shown to have a positive effect on heart health. Almonds lower total cholesterol levels by three to 25 percent. They lower LDL levels by four to 35 percent, Health24 reports.

Oat

Oats are known as superfoods. In a Thai study, people with high cholesterol were given foods such as rice and oats for four weeks. People who ate oats had a five percent reduction in total cholesterol and a 10 percent reduction in LDL.

Apples

It turned out to be the correct saying that one apple a day keeps the doctor  away. This useful fruit helps counteract the risk factors that are usually associated with heart disease by lowering cholesterol levels. A typical apple has about four grams of fiber, which can help lower your total cholesterol level. Apples are rich in soluble fiber, which is good for removing extra fat from the body. Consuming only one apple a day can lower LDL levels by up to 40 percent.

Raspberries

Sweet and savory, raspberries lower LDL levels and raise HDL levels. Researchers speculate that these beneficial effects come from high levels of natural antioxidants called polyphenols, compounds that give berries a bright color.

Buckwheat

One of the reasons to love buckwheat is fiber. The soluble fiber in buckwheat forms a sticky substance that “catches” cholesterol and helps it to be released from the body.

Olive oil

The unsaturated (good) fats found in olive oil (and canola and walnut oil) have the added benefit of lowering LDL levels without affecting HDL.
